 There are two big native tribes in Pontianak. They are Dayak & Malay. Long time ago ( i hadnt born yet guys :D ) Dayak tribes tend to lived near the forest and jungle but Malay lived near the sea and river, yet Dayak also exist on the downtown and few of Melayu come to the forest to do plantation and live there

Malay tribal

They are a couple who use traditional wear of Malay ( wedding dress of Malay) .

I come from Malay tribes. Should I use that dress on my wedding??

hAHAHA.. not at all ,, mixing with hijab is much better,,, but should i use the traditional one???

Ahhh what i am talking about? marryy???
Still not be ready discussing about marry. Still many things should be catch..


































Kapuas River and big Monkey

Kalimantan Barat ( West Borneo) is one part of Borneo (Kalimantan ) island which familiar with a river.
I think you have been knowing it ,Sungai Kapuas" .Its the longest river in Indonesia .Beside that Kalimantan Barat also has Reinforst which holds and saves a lot of life in there.One of them is orang utan. It is kind of endangered species nowdays because human disturb their habitat, forest.
Guys , talking about forest in kalimantan barat, we have to proud of our forest because we  have very big area rather than other Islands. Unfortunatelly , day by day its always decrease . Its happen because of some reasons, illegeal logging, development( home and buliding) , plantation area and many other.
How about the people ?
Poeple live here by diversities ;rate, religion , economy and social background.Dayak dan Melayu are the big rate in Kalbar.

 Meriam Karbit

Few days near   Idul Fitri , people in Pontianak have an unique tradition ; "Meriam Karbit " . Meriam karbit is cannon or gun made of wood beams and using carbide  to create big sound and explotion *not harm explotion*.For people who live on the edge of the Kapuas river, they must be willing with uneffective sleeping because  after maghrib people start to explode"Meriam Karbid"until morning .Still and all, people in Pontianak enjoy it pretty wel, even some of young people and teenage and children come to the near of that cannon to see "LIVE" people explode the cannon..
This tradition belived by people from ancestors here, the sound and vibration of meriam karbit can kick the EVIL out from their house.Hahaa,,,, it just a mitos i think ,but for some old generation , this believe is right.
